We must believe God’s word over what we see or feel. That’s why the bible says the just shall live by faith. It takes faith to follow God. It takes faith to receive from God. It takes faith to go after the dreams God has placed in our hearts. If your dream doesn’t seem impossible than it is not...
We all have dreams. You know that thing that’s in your heart your passionate about accomplishing or becoming. When we start living with God He starts showing us our purpose. The desires that burn in our hearts are connected with God’s plan for our lives and until we are doing what we love we will never be fulfilled. Our dreams are our promise lands. So it is time to step up to the plate. It is time to get serious about what God has put in our hearts to accomplish. Stepping up requires us discovering our promise lands, destroying the buts, and not delaying in our pursuit for our dreams.
1. Discover you promise lands:
God has given all of us promise lands. The desires He has placed in our hearts are connected to our destiny, the very reason He created us in the first place. Because of this, It is God's biggest desire to give us our desires. As a good father He gets glory from our lives being filled with joy.
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4
It wasn't until recently that I discovered the importance of identifying my promise lands. During this past December my wife told me my mother in law wanted a Christmas list from me. My initial thought was, "Isn't Christmas list for kids?" So I told my wife I really didn't want anything and I had everything I needed. I know, that was pretty dumb thinking. So my wife says to me,
"How can God bless you with things if you never want anything or don't know what you want."
This hit me right between the eyes in a good way.
Holy Spirit started dealing with me after that conversation with my wife. He showed me how I was tying His hands by never desiring anything from Him that was above my needs. He told me He wanted me to dream a little. So I did. It didn't take me more than 60 seconds to think of things I wanted for Christmas.
It is important to know what we desire so we can ask our loving heavenly father for those things. God is most pleased when we ask Him for things in faith. God has given all of us promise lands. The desires He has placed in our hearts are connected to our destiny, the very reason He created us in the first place. Because of this, It is God's biggest desire to give us our desires. As a good father He gets glory from our lives being filled with joy.
2. Destroy the Buts:
In the book of Numbers chapter 13, God tells Moses to send 12 spies to Caanan, which was the land God promised to give the children of Israel. When the spies returned home from their journey all of them but Joshua and Caleb had doubts.
Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.” Numbers 13:27-29
All the spies agreed that that the Land was just as God had promised. It was a prosperous land, a land that flowed with milk and honey. Then 10 of them had to throw a But in there. But, the people who live there are strong, the cities are fortified, and it is surrounded by enemies on every side. Buts’ are always the fruit of unbelief. Buts will always get in the way of us tasting of God’s promises for our lives and having our dreams.
Joshua and Caleb were the only ones out of the 12 who decided to trust God’s word. Therefore they were the only ones who got to live in the promise land. The other 10 who doubted missed out on God’s promise and died in the wilderness. All of God’s promises to us are yes and amen. When God makes promises, in His mind, what He has promised has already been provided.
We must believe God’s word over what we see or feel. That’s why the bible says the just shall live by faith. It takes faith to follow God. It takes faith to receive from God. It takes faith to go after the dreams God has placed in our hearts. If your dream doesn’t seem impossible than it is not a God dream. God dreams are always impossible to accomplish apart from His intervention. This is why faith is required to posses our promise lands. So throw away all of your buts and let your response to God always be a yes!
3. Don’t Delay In Your Pursuit
God’s promises to us are predicated on our cooperation and obedience to Him. We must say yes to Him in order to have the God dream He has placed in our hearts. It is important for us to be quick to respond when God tells us to do something. There is a time and season for everything. Sometimes God will show us something He wants to do through us years down the road and we need faith and patience for that dream. Sometimes God shows us something He wants to do immediately and we must move then or we will miss out. These times require faith and action.
Check out Caleb’s response to God’s Word when others doubted.
Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it." Numbers 13:30
Caleb was able to respond that way because His faith was in God and not himself. He was fully persuaded that God would do what he said He would do. So He said yes to God and God gave Caleb the promise land.
You were created with a call and designed with a destiny. God’s plan for your life existed before you did. God is not guessing about what he wants to do with your life. He already has it all laid out. His plan for you is a good one. He has placed his desires in your heart and wants to reveal them to you. He wants you dreaming. So today respond to God’s voice and surrender to His beautiful plan. I declare you will have your dreams and God will be glorified in your life!
