I would like to announce to you, I have found a friend who has all of these characteristics and more. His name is...
True friends seem to be hard to come by. Especially in the world today where so many people are consumed with themselves. When I think about qualities a good friend would encompass; I think about someone who will be there for me. Someone who will give me their ear when I need someone to talk to. Someone who will lift me up when I am down. A person I can count on to always have an encouraging word for me. A real friend who makes me feel special every time I am around them. The kind of friend that will give me comfort when I am sad and love me enough to tell me the truth when I am about to make a poor decision.
A person who possesses these qualities would make a great friend. I know what you are thinking, “a person with these characteristics would make a someone a good friend but who could live up to these expectations and never let someone down?” I would like to announce to you, I have found a friend who has all of these characteristics and more. His name is Holy Spirit.
My new friend Holy Spirit has been a huge help to me and will be the same for you if you would like for Him to. Here are a few awesome traits I have found in Him.
1) He is teacher.
Jesus speaking of Holy Spirit in John 14:26 said, “He would teach you all things.” Notice He said all things. There is nothing Holy Spirit doesn’t know. He is the smartest person on the planet. He is smarter than YouTube or Google put together. Whatever desire you have whether it be to own a business, start a bible study, write a book, Holy Spirit will teach you how to do it. Elizabeth and I have just finished our first book entitled “Renovate Your Faith,” which will be available soon. Because we have never written a book before, we asked Holy Spirit to help us accomplish this. When we needed advice, we would pray to God who is our Father, in the name of Jesus, and Holy Spirit would bring us the answer we needed at the moment we needed it. He is a great teacher!
2) He is a giver.
Jesus said in John 16:14, “He will glorify me, for He will take of what is mine and declare it to you.” This is great news. Jesus said He gets glory from Holy Spirit taking from Him and giving to us. Do you know, there is nothing Jesus doesn’t have. All the gold and silver are His. He knows where all the hidden treasure is on the planet. Just ask Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, where he found the money to pay his taxes (in a fish’s mouth). Jesus’ kingdom is one of peace and joy. He is a healer, restorer and mender of broken hearts. He forgives, is merciful. The list goes on forever. Jesus has all of these wonderful things and has given us access to His riches by way of our friend Holy Spirit.
3) He reveals truth.
In John 15:26, Jesus refers to Holy Spirit as the “Spirit of truth.” Jesus defeated the devil on the cross. (Colossians 2:15) He is a whipped puppy. The only power he has over us is the power we give him. We give the devil a place in our lives when we receive his lies as our truth. God said in Hosea 4:6, “His people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.” Many people fall prey to the devil because they don’t know the difference between the truth and a lie. The only way to know the truth is to know The Truth, who is Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 15:26, “Holy Spirit would testify of Him.” This means He will tells us about Jesus, He reveals truth to us.
If you would like to begin a relationship with my new friend you can today. You must first begin a relationship with Jesus who will save you from your sins. “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10 Once you make this declaration in your heart YOU ARE SAVED. You are a new creation, and it is that simple. You cannot lose it, you cannot work for it, you must just simply believe. You have now made the best decision of your life!
